AI:40 ACE Awards
A Faceless Call to Action
The Advertising Club of Edmonton decided to look forward instead of back for their 40th Annual ACE Awards. AI:40 was to represent Advertising Intelligence; celebrating the human emotions and actions their creative ads trigger.

A futuristic show – the first ever to be 100% hosted by a virtually animated emcee in Edmonton.
The 10’ artificial intelligence head was a locally curated set piece, brought to life with invert’s facial motion tracking animation and making the face appear as 3D projection. Produced in advance with a ‘live’ script built in for guest interactions, this virtual host certainly gave both the events and advertising industry something to talk about.
To add another non-traditional element, upon each category announcement, colourful light danced between each table’s centrepieces with the winner being announced by a solo 4’ light beam rising them to come up to the stage.
Many would say this is the first awards show they’ve seen with each guest actively paying full attention right to the end. This event went on to win Bronze for Design Agency of the Year.
